John T. Fitch, Jr., MD, FAAP
BOARD CERTIFIED PEDIATRICIAN
A San Antonio native, Dr. Fitch grew up knowing that he always wanted to be a pediatrician (if he didn’t become a Longhorn or Cowboys sports announcer). As the son of a respected pediatrician, he wanted to be just like his dad. He also worked as a camp counselor with Camp Ozark for four summers during his college years. The joy of working with kids combined with being the son of Dr. J. Thomas Fitch, Sr. sealed his calling.
He completed his undergraduate studies, medical school and residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. After a year as Chief Resident, he moved back to San Antonio in 1999 to join his father’s pediatric practice. In 2010, Dr. Fitch, Sr. retired after 43 years. Dr. Fitch proudly continued in his father’s heritage. He is board certified and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Fitch has been married to his best friend, Chrissy, since 1992. He says she is “very patient with him and is his biggest encourager.” They have four children, born in ’96, ’98, ’01 and 08. Dr. Fitch says that “each is a blessing and has taught him more about the practical aspects of pediatrics than any text book ever did.” Dr. Fitch is most passionate about his family, faith, church, his pediatric patients and yes, college sports.
To his patient families, Dr. Fitch says that “Watching your children grow up and watching new parents become confident parents is the greatest joy of my everyday practice. I recognize that your child has physical, mental, emotional and spiritual components. I hope to partner with you as we collectively strive to develop a lasting heritage in your children.”
