Linda Cook, MD, PhD, FAAP

BOARD CERTIFIED PEDIATRICIAN – Interim

Dr. Linda Cook was born and raised in Houston. In her childhood, she was cared for by a female pediatrician, which was uncommon at that time, and was inspired by the compassion and care she received. She moved to Austin to earn her BA and PhD in Microbiology. At church, she met a professor in the English department at UT Austin and they fell in love and married. In their first year of marriage, they both decided to change the trajectory of their life and go to medical school. After 40 years of marriage she says Sean is still the most handsome man she knows, her best friend and is incredibly patient with her!

After completing their medical training and residency at UT Health San Antonio, Dr. Sean and Dr. Linda Cook together established their practice with the other doctors of Heritage Pediatrics. They had wonderful times working there, but retired from Heritage in 2010. Since then, Dr. Sean Cook has worked one day a week for the medical school in the refugee clinic. Dr Linda Cook missed the joy of caring for children and adolescents, and has since served as a hospitalist, caring for the newborns in the nursery at Methodist Hospital and in urgent care, Six years ago, the doctors at Heritage persuaded her to return as a locums whenever “special forces” were required.

She is always delighted to be back at Heritage, and feels her heart is still here in this practice. . She especially loves seeing second generation patients! When not at work, she enjoys traveling, baking, church ministries, playing the violin and taking long distance walks in England and Scotland.
