The CDC is closely monitoring flu cases in Texas, and so are we. We have already had multiple children ranging from 4 months to 16 years positive for flu in our office. It appears so far that influenza will hit early again this year, based on current trends. Normally, flu peaks in February. Last year it peaked in December, and it may again based on the data in chart 2 (courtesy CDC)

Please get protected with the flu vaccine if you have not already. Flumist is up to 90% effective for children aged 2-8 years. Flu shot is effective 50-60% in preventing influenza in all patients, and 80-90% effective in preventing SEVERE symptoms of influenza. We have both Flumist and Flushot available for patients and their family members in stock now, call for appointments.
