If you are employed by a local or surrounding ISD, this information may be important for you. In December we were made aware that many ISD’s in our region offered a health insurance plan that we do not contract with. ISD’s offering TRS ActiveCare plans (Alamo Heights, Southside, Randall, etc.) had three options for employees effective 9/1/14. The ActiveCare Select option is a restrictive network that does not include any pediatricians in our local community, including Heritage Pediatrics (see here for explanation). If you signed up for ActiveCare Select in Bexar, Kendall, Comal, Hays, Travis, Williams, or Guadelupe County, we may be out of network for your child, and cannot be paid for our services. We are fully in network with ActiveCare 1-HD and 2.

You can find out which plan you are on by viewing your insurance card. If it says ActiveCare Select in the upper left corner AND has a Baptist Health Network (or Seton) emblem, we are NOT in network. The plan may not offer out-of-network benefits.

If you have selected the “ActiveCare Select” plan that is a restricted network and have further questions, please contact your benefits administrator.

If you are unsure if your school district is on ActiveCare, the following link lists all websites:  ActiveCare

Just because you are on ActiveCare doesn’t mean that you have signed up for ActiveCare Select, the restrictive network.

We hope you are successful in sorting out the best plan for you and your family.  We hope to see you soon, healthy and covered!

Sincerely,

Heritage Pediatrics
